In the early days of America's Army, there wasn't much available to keep cheaters off of our servers.
In May of 2004, America's Army Server Admins(AASA) came online and helped make our servers a place to enjoy a killing a couple of hours with our friends. Between the CVAR and MD5 checks that were offered by AASA, the opportunity to submit screenshots of cheats being used, information for new server owners about how to effectively operate their servers, and the streaming of server information to the AASA repository, cheaters were largely banished from our leased servers and forced onto public servers. Players could finally fight on a fair battlefield.
With the diminishing number of players, the costs involved in operating AASA, and the personal time that is required from all of the staff to keep AASA running smoothly, a tough decision has been made to close AASA down.
Please understand this decision was not taken lightly, and while we appreciate that will not keep everyone happy, it was the right decision to undertake. As we all know, no door is fully closed and depending on the future of AA and EBI, we may at some point return, in the interim we've found ourselves at a crossroad and we'd rather collaborate with AON than continue the original path undertaken all those years ago.
AON has graciously agreed to host the AASA Master Ban List, and host a section within their forums for AASA specific ban appeals.
This will ensure that those whom were caught cheating will remain on the MBL and not be given an automatic reprieve based on the closing of AASA.
For our members and visitors who aren't already Private Server Admins (PSA's) at Airdale Ops Network(AON), we highly recommend you apply.
If you don't wish to become a PSA, please show your support to the AC Community and stream to AON, streaming remains one of the best deterrents to cheating.
The Staff would like to thank all of those who've contributed the past 5+ years in the fight against cheaters, no matter how small the contribution. You've all made AASA one of the most effective leaders in the fight against cheating.
THANK YOU!!!!
Regards,
The Staff of AASA
