Let's start this thread with

STAR CITIZEN

Doesn't sound so awesome, but check it out, from space, to sky, to land, to ground vehicle, to foot. It actually has it all, and in a virtual open world UNIVERSE!

Talk about epic landscapes, wow.

Amazing one can fly a space craft (one that you choose and fit out) complete with fully developed interior, as are all the vehicles, and then approach a planet and land, get out and walk about, and it's a first person shooter.
Look into the sky and see the space station you flew past (wow). When you see a horizon line, or curvature of a planet, it's the actual horizon as modeled, not a clipping plane, so fly through the clouds and find your landing zone.

And yes you can go from one planet to another, land anywhere on the planet and walk around.

This game is being developed by a 2 person team. It needs some work but through you into a realistic world. Some players say they couldn't get in the game (warning).
You have to turn off your safety before firing, and make sure you have a mag in the gun, etc.... realistic.
It is an 'Early Access' game on Steam, meaning you can play it while it's being developed. Keep all this in mind. The video below let you know what to expect.
One feature I like, you shoot a teammate and you'll be sent to jail for 10 minutes! wow.
