    First Person Shooter Games Scheduled For Release In 2012

    Wondering what 2012 will bring in terms of first person shooter games?

    So far I have come across three games with an exact release date and another ten games which have been announced to be released by the end of the year 2012.



    The Darkness II



    Delayed two times in 2011, the upcoming sequel to 2007′s The Darkness was released on February 7, 2012 in North America and February 10, 2012 in Europe for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms






    Syndicate



    Syndicate was release on February 21, 2012 in North America and February 24, 2012 in Europe for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 platforms. It is a reboot of the Syndicate series, changing completely the genre from a tactical shooter to a FPS.






    XCOM



    Developed by 2K Marin and was released on March 6, 2012, XCOM is no longer a strategy game as many fans of 1990s X-COM game series would have hoped to be.






    The following games have been announced to be released in 2012, but as yet the release date remains blurry.


    Aliens: Colonial Marines



    A squad-based first-person shooter based on the characters and creatures of the Alien franchise, developed by Gearbox Software, expected to be released in spring of 2012 for PC, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360.






    BioShock Infinite



    The third game in the BioShock series, BioShock Infinite is a first person shooter with role-playing game elements developed by Irrational Games planned for release in 2012 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.






    Borderlands 2



    The third game in the BioShock series, BioShock Infinite is a first person shooter with role-playing game elements developed by Irrational Games planned for release in 2012 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.






    Brothers in Arms: Furious 4



    Set in World War II, Brothers in Arms Furious 4 is a brutal first person shooter that offers an exciting campaign mode playable with up to four players in co-op, as well as an extensive competitive multiplayer mode.

    I recently received a The Darkness II for a review copy and very much love the game, it has a good plot. Graphics, and voice acting are very good.

    Nice list of games. The Syndicate looks fluid and well put together, have to see more to have an opinion on the others.
