Nice Moreno, is that standard cable service in Seattle or a special high speed service from Comcast?

25.09 must be smooth sailing on most US servers I would imagine.

I suppose that's OK for wireless

Thanks, and I must say, 13 is quite slow for cable isn't it ?

I agree, must be alot of fragging

However, my ping is always low, just the lag spikes that bother me from time to time .... it's irritating .

I think you're right... i've had repair people here who say it should be better and they'll get the right people out here to fix it, but it never happens. I think they have a wiring problem with too many customers on one line and it'll take a special crew and investment on their part to fix my problem.

I agree, but how are you connected to the internet ?

Don't you have lag while playing (online) games ?

Re: How Speedy Are You?

In response to blaze. My internet connection is charged to us as about the same as Chemical's. I rarely have a problem with playing online, but roadrunner has helped me out a bit on the download side with their "Powerboost" feature that give me extra speed at non-peak times of the day. I just tested my connection and got this result...

Re: How Speedy Are You?

They have a new test for us Gamers:

http://www.pingtest.net/

What is Pingtest.net?
Use Pingtest.net to determine the quality of your broadband Internet connection. Streaming media, voice, video communications, and online gaming require more than just raw speed. Test your connection now to get your Pingtest.net rating and share the result with others!

A
An excellent result! Expect all Internet applications to work very well assuming you have sufficient bandwidth. Use Speedtest.net to see.
MOS greater than 4.37 (Example - a ping below 50 ms with 0% packet loss)

B
Very good! Your connection should work well for any Internet application. Some online games may not perform optimally.
MOS between 4.28 and 4.37 (Example - a ping around 90 ms with 0% packet loss)

C
Acceptable. Your VoIP quality will suffer some, and you will have a disadvantage in many online games. Most streaming media will be fine. You should try testing again to another server close to you.
MOS between 4.00 and 4.27 (Example - a ping around 150 ms with 1% packet loss)

D
Concerning. Most online applications will not perform well but should function in some capacity. Try testing to other servers to verify the result. You might need to contact your ISP for help.
MOS between 2.50 and 3.99 (Example - a ping around 300 ms with 3% packet loss)

F
Very poor. Real-time Internet application performance will suffer greatly on such a connection. Test to other servers to confirm the result, but definitely talk to your ISP about troubleshooting the issue.
MOS lower than 2.50 (Example - a ping above 500 ms with 20% packet loss)

Re: How Speedy Are You?

Well..I am on Cable, but have an advantage. I work for the communications company. We launched a new platform back in January and it is called Docsis 3. This new platform allows us to take one downstream carrier and channel bond to it allowing multiple downstream carriers. This has allowed us to offer internet speeds up to 150mb for business and 60mb for residential. A few of the other providers do have this, but you pay for it.

Re: How Speedy Are You?

Amazing, hope the prices are amazingly low one day too.

Actually I'm not getting why internet service prices haven't fallen more... that used to be the model with real items you purchase but seems like the internet it doesn't matter how many purchase the service, the price will never actually drop.

Re: How Speedy Are You?

I guess it depends on the service provider and the area you live in. I know we offer our base internet 12/1 at 29.99. The funny thing is too is that even though the economy is bad people are spending more on the home entertainment rather than going out. There are so many options now and internet is the drive of everything. For example: a lot of people now are buying internet for their TV pleasure...netflicks is the big one that comes to mind.

i dont know if i did the test good, and:

It is wireles on the laptop.

I download movies with 1 GB/S

thats like:
1 second for an DivX movie
5 Seconds for DVD5
19 seconds for an 25GB .mkv

(because it goes over 1GB/s and in the time it goes up to 1,4 GB/s)

and in the homenetwork whe have a welldone gigabitnetwork, with an NAS.

I PAY € 2,50
