    XFire: Video Recording Tutorial

DOWNLOAD XFire: Go here to download xfire if you don't already have it: http://www.xfire.com/downloads/ Click on the big yellow button near the top of the page.

    _________________________________________________
    SETUP
With XFire running properly on your computer, go to the XFire Menu > Tools > Options.

Click on Video (Beta) tab to bring up the video settings window.

    Do the following:

    1) Check off: Enable Video Capture.

    2) Video Capture Folder: C:\Program Files\Xfire\videos

    3) Click on 'Video Capture Key Binding' and press 2 keys at the same time. I use 'I+U' as an example.

    4) Click on 'Full-Size' for Video Capture Options at 25 Frames per second. Yes this will make for large file sizes but when you upload them the pixel quality will be much better and then you can delete the video file from your computer's harddrive. You should only record a minute max with xfire until you get used to the file sizes and upload times.

    5) Select Audio Capture Options: Audio Device. Note on Sound: XFire has some problems recording sound for some people. Under Audio Mixer, you should have the option of selecting Stereo Mix or Line Volumne. When I use these they don't work. As xfires says, this is a beta version.

    6) Click on Record Sound.

    7) Click on OK.

    _________________________________________________
    RECORDING:
When in-game, click on your two bound keys, for me that's 'I & E'. You will see a recording symbol in the top left corner. When you want to stop recording, click on your two bound keys again. The recording symbol will disappear.

(Update message from XFire: Video capture in Xfire In-Game (Scroll Lock + V) is now enabled by default for everyone.)

    _________________________________________________
When you exit the game and have the xfire window up front, a message will appear saying that you have recorded a video. NOTE: usually I get 2 video recordings when I only record once, it's a glitch, possibly the sound file. The smaller recording can't be opened. The larger video is the file you need.

If you don't see a list of your videos in xfire, click on the left bottom button in the list for videos.

    _________________________________________________
    PLAYING THE VIDEO:
Double click on the video file and it should open and play.

    _________________________________________________
    UPLOADING THE VIDEO:
Right click on the video file (in xfire list) and select 'upload'. It will take a few minutes depending on the file size.

    _________________________________________________
    VIEWING YOUR VIDEOS ON XFIRE:
Simply go to your xfire Profile page and you will see your videos. You can then copy the URL in order to post a link to your video page so others can see it.

Thanks for the suggestion Lil B_F

    FRAPS

    WEBSITE: http://www.fraps.com/
    DOWNLOAD: http://www.fraps.com/download.php
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, and x64 Editions.
DEMO: Demo version is available for free but shows 'watermark' Fraps message in video and has time limit.
COST: $37.00 USD for Full Version. No Watermark, No Limit recording, free updates,

    FRAPS: Video Recording
    Setup
There isn't much you can change in the demo version of Fraps, but you can change the fps that you record at, which will make the video's smaller in size. It will also put less stress on your video card while playing and recording at the same time.
    _________________________________________________
    Recording
It is pretty simple, just hit your hot key, which is most likely <F9>
To end the video, hit <F9> again
    _________________________________________________
The videos will be in your installation directory unless you changed it in the program's settings
    _________________________________________________
    Playing the Video
Just double click on the video and it will open in your default video viewing software.
    _________________________________________________
    FRAPS Screenshots
Again, it's as simple as pressing you hot key, most likely <F10>, going to your installation directory, and double clicking on it to open it!

If there's anything else I didn't think of, just post and I should be able to give an answer.

    SnapZ ProX

    WEBSITE: http://www.ambrosiasw.com/news/
    DOWNLOAD: http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/
PLATFORMS: Mac OS 9 and Universal Intel.
    COST: $29.00 / $69.00

Summary: Snapz Pro X is by far the most powerful, versatile, and easy to use screen capture solution for Mac OS X. Whether you're writing online manuals that require visual examples, or simply recording video of your flight simulator dogfighting skills, Snapz Pro X is the ultimate utility for capturing moving or still pictures on Mac OS X.

Ability to take screen shots. Snapz Pro X supports saving screenshots as .bmp, .pict, .gif, .jpg, .png, .tiff, .pdf, or Photoshop files with precise control over image compression. Screenshots can be scaled, cropped, color depth-changed, and dithered. Snapz Pro X can also add borders, generate automatic thumbnails, overlay watermarks/copyright notices... you name it, we got it!

Program works in front of all running programs which allows you to record anything that is displayed. You can 'fix' the screen capture frame or let it follow your mouse (good for tutorials). You can also resize the frame to capture more detail in your video leaving out the text most people show in their videos.

HackHunters uses this program for many of its on site videos. If you are running a PC game, you will need to use a different program to capture in-game video, like XFire, then you can re-record the video with SnapZ ProX.

    Game Cam

    http://www.planetgamecam.com/

    tutorial movie: http://moviecenter.planetgamecam.com...tart&vidid=117

You can start making movies of your favorite game in seconds. All you have to do is:

    1. Launch Game Cam
    2. Launch your game
    3. Start recording

You’re ready to start recording. Everything else is optional. Game Cam loads with default settings that should be optimal for most computers. Capturing in-game movies using the default settings is recommended for first-time users.

    Hot Keys

So that Game Cam does not interfere with any of your in-game hot keys, Game Cam uses an Interface key that is similar to the Windows modifier keys Ctrl and Alt. You must press and hold the Interface key and then press the command key to interact with Game Cam while in a game environment. For example, if your Interface hot key is assigned to "\" and your Pause hot key is assigned to "P" then you must press and hold "\" and then press "P" to pause recording of a movie. The in-game hot key list (F1) and recording toggle (Home) are one-touch keys and do not require the interface key to be used. All hot keys can be remapped.
