SP (Speed Performance)

With the actual low prices for the memory, you should have at least 2G and ideally organized to work dual channel.

To resume the situation, when you do not have enough memory installed on your PC, the CPU need to swap constantly the data between your HD and your memory to process the data. If it is the case, be sure it slows down seriously all your applications.

For a dual channel application, you need to have the same kind of memory (size and speed) in the different (twins) slot. Some maniac suggest also to buy your memory modules at the same place and at the same time and check to be sure the serial numbers of your modules are most similar as possible.

With that said it is also very important to know that any program starting automatically when you open your PC takes memory and may slow down your PC. Curiously it seems a lot of people do not care that much about that important point and let many non essential programs start automatically.

With the basic method that needs to type msconfig in the "RUN" box, it is a bit more complicated for less experienced users. But with all the friendly user tools available now, it is very simple to do. You open the software and just need to select which of the programs from the list you want to open automatically or not at the startup. Could not be more easy.

In our COMPUTER TECH HELP (http://www.hackhunters.com/forum/index.php?board=22.0) forum we suggest you some interesting tools to help you doing the job.

Click Here >>> PC OPTIMIZATION 4: Start Menu manager / cleaner (http://www.hackhunters.com/forum/index.php?topic=509.0)

A few all in one tools are also offering a start menu manager feature like it is the case for the well known Advanced SystemCare Free from IObit. The link to downlaod that tool is available in our PC OPTIMIZATION 1: All in one tools section.

Normally it is a very simple process because you have simply to select check or uncheck check boxs in a list. A checked checkbox the program will start automatically, an unchecked checkbox the program will not start automatically.

SC (Security Center)

In this lesson, we will talk about spyware. We noticed many ppl are mixed when it is time to make the difference between the common terms related to security, so we will start by an overview of the different kind of malwares.

wikipedia is offering very interesting definitions about the different kind of malwares so we will simply give you the links.

Malware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware) definition includes:

Computer viruses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_viruses)
Worms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_worm)
Trojan horses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trojan_horse_(computer))
Most rootkits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rootkits)
Spyware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spyware)
(Dishonest) Adware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adware)
Crimeware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimeware)
Backdoor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backdoor_(computing))
Other malicious and unwanted software

It is very important to have protection against viruses but it is also very important to protect your PC against any other kind of malware like spyware, adware, .... Of course we have a thread in our COMPUTER TECH HELP (http://www.hackhunters.com/forum/index.php?board=22.0) section.

If you do not have an anti spyware yet and you have no idea which one to choose, we recommand you highly to go with a popular combination of two very interesting [color=red]free softwares working very well together to do a good complementary work.

These two softwares are SpywareBlaster and Spybot. In case of SpywareBlaster, it is far to be critical but there is a limitation with the free version because it do not allows auto-update so you have to reminds do the work yourself and check regularly for updates.

Tip of the month

In the Windows RUN box, Windows will open the program, file, … you type inside. If you have to use regularly the RUN box for a few specific items like command, regedit, ..., it can be useful to create shortcuts on your desktop.

If you have no idea about its location, you can search by name of the item with the Windows search tool. Once found,

1. Open the Workstation
2. Type the path in the workstation in the address box (top of the page)
3. By right clicking on the icon of the file, you can easily create a shortcut to put on your desktop.
