DESCRIPTION: Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Origin)
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is a horror first-person shooter video game, developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is a sequel to F.E.A.R. First Encounter Assault Recon and was released in February 2009.

The sequel to F.E.A.R. continues the supernatural suspense story of the supernatural being, Alma, whose rage against those who wronged her cause an escalating paranormal crisis that threatens to devour and replace reality with her own.[5] Instead of playing as the Point Man, the game's protagonist is Michael Becket, a Delta Force operator [6] whose squad is sent in to take Genevieve Aristide into protective custody approximately thirty minutes before the ending of F.E.A.R.
The game opens with Becket experiencing a hallucination involving a ruined city, where he sees Alma walking along. As he recovers, Becket's squad arrives at the penthouse complex where Aristide lives, only to find it under assault by a team from ATC Security's black ops, dispatched by Armacham Technology Corporation's Board of Directors. After saving Aristide, Becket uncovers hints of a project known as "Harbinger," which involves himself and several of his teammates. Aristide claims that Becket and his team are the only way to stop Alma, but before she can elaborate, the F.E.A.R. Point Man detonates the Origin Facility's reactor. Becket is knocked unconscious in the explosion.
When he recovers, Becket finds himself and the rest of his squad in a hospital deep underground, being operated on by a team of doctors under the direction of Aristide. The hospital comes under attack by ATC clean-up crews led by Colonel Vanek, and Becket must fight his way out. While escaping, Becket receives communications over his radio from a man who calls himself "Snake Fist." After escaping the hospital and confronting the commander of the ATC forces, Becket fights his way to the surface, where he encounters the reactivated Replica troops. As he moves to the surface, Becket is repeatedly assaulted in hand-to-hand combat by Alma, who (according to Snake Fist) is trying to "absorb" Becket, drawn by the psychic signal he now emits after being psychically altered in an "attunement chamber" that Aristide tricked him into entering.
After reaching the surface, Becket regroups with what is left of his team, many of whom have been systematically killed by Alma. Now consisting only of Becket, his superior Lieutenant Stokes, Sergeant Morales, and Sergeant Keegan, the squad moves to nearby Wade Elementary, a school now controlled by ATC Security, where Snake Fist and Aristide are hiding. Becket discovers that the basement of the school is another ATC research facility, for a project known as "Paragon." Here, Becket discovers that Project Harbinger was an attempt to create more psychic commanders similar to Paxton Fettel, a major antagonist from the original game, and that Becket and Keegan were the most promising subjects.
In the basement facility, Becket kills Colonel Vanek and finds Snake Fist. Snake Fist reveals himself as Terry Halford, a researcher for ATC, and explains that the only way to defeat Alma is to travel to an Armacham facility inside a nuclear reactor on nearby Still Island, which houses a device that can amplify psychic power. With this device, Becket can possibly defeat Alma with his own psychic abilities. As Becket and Halford prepare to head back to the surface, Halford is decapitated by a Replica assassin.
En route to Still Island, Becket's squad is ambushed by Replica troops, and Sergeant Keegan wanders off in a daze. Becket follows and tries to recover Keegan, but is instead delayed by Replica forces. After fighting off both the enemy soldiers and more of Alma's assaults, he eventually reunites with the remainder of the squad underneath Still Island and heads for the ATC facility. Becket enters the psychic amplifier, and as Stokes prepares to power up the machine, she is shot by Genevieve Aristide. Aristide explains that instead of destroying Alma, she plans to seal Becket and Alma inside the device together, so Aristide can use Alma as leverage against ATC.
Alma attacks again, and Aristide seals Becket and Alma together. Alma approaches Becket, and he is sent into another hallucination, where he fights off apparitions of a maddened Sergeant Keegan. While trying to reactivate the amplifier, Becket sees images of Alma sexually assaulting his body in the real world. Finally, after reactivating the last switch, Becket escapes the hallucination to find himself sealed inside the device. The device opens, and Becket sees Alma standing in the midst of a blasted landscape. Alma is now pregnant with Becket's child, and the game ends as she walks up to Becket and places his hand onto her pregnant belly, and the voice of a child can distinctly be heard.

GAMEPLAY: The F.E.A.R. 2 gameplay maintains the core elements from the original, including slo-mo combat, martial arts attacks, and enhanced A.I. The A.I. from the original F.E.A.R. was known for its exploitation of the environments, taking cover behind pillars and knocking down tables.[citation needed] The A.I. in F.E.A.R. 2 set to out-do what was achieved in the first, with even more intelligent A.I. that is far more challenging and aggressive.[citation needed] New features in the game include iron sight aiming, creating cover by pushing objects, and the ability to use mechs during vehicle segments. Project Origin features a more diverse cast of enemies, as well as more encounters with supernatural enemies.
F.E.A.R. 2 does not allow the player to manually save and features a single save slot. However, the game allows the player to replay any level from the main menu after first completing that level.

Alone In The Dark

OFFICIAL WEBSITE: http://www.centraldark.com/index.php
RELEASE: June 24, 2008

Alone in the Dark, also known as Alone in the Dark 5 and Alone in the Dark: Near Death Investigation, is the fourth sequel of the survival horror video game series created by Infogrames (now Atari). The game will be released on PC and Xbox 360.

A PlayStation 3 version was confirmed by Sony at the Tokyo Game Show 2005, however, it is noteworthy that that title has not been officially announced by its publisher, Atari. While the PS3 version seems to be apparently missing, various PlayStation publications (including Official PlayStation Magazine & PSM), have recently reported on the title as still being developed for the next-gen console. The official release date(s) are still to be announced 2007.

Myths. They were just stories; tall tales to explain the unexplainable. But unexplainable doesn’t mean impossible.

Deep within the dusty basement of a New York Museum, recovered from the depths of the ocean floor, lies mythology’s most infamous artifact: Pandora’s Box. Sealed inside since time immemorial are creatures we thought were works of fiction, myths created by our ancestors. There, they have raged, awaiting a chance to escape and seek vengeance upon mankind for sealing them in their prison.

Now, rogue art thief Charles Deckard, hired by a shadowy organization to steal the box, learns that the line between fact and fiction is not as clear as it seems.

During the mission, Deckard, unaware of the box’s true identity, unwittingly releases its horrors into the world, triggering a war between man and myth. Now, giant griffons rule the city skies, ravenous werewolves stalk the urban streets in search of flesh, and Deckard is left branded with a signet that is the secret to man’s salvation. With the aid of a clandestine paramilitary force, he must fight to seal the door between reality and myth or see loss of civilization to the tooth and claw of legend.

Preview of up-coming game... BioShock 2

BioShock 2

PLATFORMS: PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
MODES: Single & Multiplayer
RELEASE DATE: November 30, 2009
ENGINE: Unreal, unknown version.
PUBLISHER: 2k Games (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2K_Games)
DEVELOPER: 2K Marin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2K_Marin)

DESCRIPTION: Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioshock_2)
Reap the rewards of Rapture as every element is exposed.
Plot: Set ten years after the events of BioShock,[3] a number of towns around the world have been reporting kidnappings of young girls by attackers described as "thin", with red lights often reported as either being worn by the attacker or spotted nearby in the sea. This single attacker, who is the Big Sister, one of the Little Sisters from the first entry in the series,[4] has mechanised herself in a similar fashion to the Big Daddies — and has become the ruler of the underwater city of Rapture, which under her control has reached an equilibrium in which she "actively maintains the city's infrastructure, and viciously hunts anyone down who disrupts the balance of power"; Tenenbaum, discoverer of ADAM and original creator of the Little Sisters, states that the Big Sister has begun kidnapping girls and turning them "into creatures... like her".

The player will take the role of the first Big Daddy ever created in Rapture, who has seemingly survived the events of the first game. As such, the Big Daddy's drill and rivet gun will be weapons that the player may use, but will overheat if used constantly. Alternatively, the player may also use plasmids, and their effects have been changed, while "upgrade trees" will provide unique ways to upgrade plasmids. A new feature added is the ability to dual-wield plasmids and weapons at the same time. Further Big Daddy abilities found in the first game, such as performing a shoulder dash, will also be an option. The player will also be able to step outside Rapture into the ocean due to the diving suit they wear.[4] The Big Sister also appears to be a very serious threat to the player. When a certain number of Big Daddies are killed she will attack. Unlike the Big Daddies, she is lightning quick and arguably more powerful, able to extract ADAM from her enemies through a harvesting needle, straight into her bloodstream, which fuels "telekinetic abilities beyond anything previously thought possible".[4]
As a "rogue" Big Daddy, players will attempt to capture the Little Sisters from other Big Daddies who roam Rapture. Once caught, the player will again have the option of choosing the fate of the Little Sisters. Harvesting remains a possibility in order to gain more ADAM, but rather than rescuing the Little Sister, players will instead be allowed to adopt them. With this option, Little Sisters will ride around with the player's Big Daddy, and will look for ADAM to harvest from corpses; in a manner similar to the museum area of the first game, the player will then need to ensure that splicers will not harm the Little Sister as the harvesting process takes place. Rescuing, while not initially an option for the player, will become available at some point in the game.[4] Additionally the Little Sisters will also warn the player when the Big Sister is approaching.
Returning features from the first game include the ability for the player to regenerate (though not by the use of Vita-Chambers), and audio diaries. In addition to the single-player story, multiplayer will be a feature in BioShock 2,[4] but this will not take the form of co-operative play.[5]

Alan Wake

OFFICIAL WEBSITE: http://www.alanwake.com/
PUBLISHER/DEVELOPER: Rmemdy (http://www.remedygames.com/), the makers of Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne
VIEWPOINT: 3rd person, not sure if implementing 1st person view.
ENGINE: Alan Wake Engine developed by Remedy
SANDBOX: yes, 36 square miles (10 x 10 kilometres).

Alan Wake is a psychological action thriller from Remedy, the legendary and renowned developers of highly successful action titles. In this exciting new title exclusively for Windows and Xbox 360, gamers assume the role of Alan Wake, a best-selling suspense author who escapes to a small town to recover from the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée.

The story of Alan Wake is made up like a continuing season of a TV series, consisting episodes where the story unfolds as the player completes missions. Some of the episodes end up in a classic cliffhanger, while others are calmer, concentrating on character development and Alan’s past. Although you can play the game in one-episode portions, that isn’t Remedy’s ultimate goal. “We want to give the game an irresistible ‘one more episode’ atmosphere” lead designer Petri Järvilehto says.

The plot of Alan Wake is tied in episodes, but the game world isn’t. You can move freely around Bright Falls and the surrounding nature without any urgency. There is much to explore in the huge environment and by talking to the residents you might discover unexpected secrets. “However, Alan Wake isn’t a Bioware RPG” Järvilehto clarifies. “The storytelling doesn’t advance if the player wonders aimlessly around the woods.

Remedy have showcased Alan Wake running smoothly on an Intel Core 2 Quad system overclocked at 3.73Ghz with a GeForce 7900GTX.

Markus from Remedy has said “Alan Wake would pretty much not run on any single core processors, although it may be possible to run on single-core Pentium 4 processors with Hyper Threading enabled, with noticeably reduced image quality/experience.”

The game will use a separate processing thread dedicated to physical calculations. Since Remedy is using Havok, there is no support for Ageia PhysX cards, so all the physical calculations are done using the CPU. Markus has explained that a normal Core 2 Quad will use 80% of one core for physical calculations.

Alan Wake currently runs faster and smoother on quad core systems than on dual core. Depending on the gameplay situation, the performance gain can be about 30%. We haven’t looked at leveraging 8 cores to the max yet. - Markus Maki

3rd Person gameplay... due out October 2009

Gratuitous blood, chop them up game... not that great, very repetitious.

RELEASE: Due October 2009
PUBLISHER/DEVELOPER: Konami (http://www.konami.com) & Zombie (http://www.zombie.com)

Zombie Studios is currently developing Saw - The Video Game for Konami.

"Konami has confirmed an earlier Cut Scene report that it bought the rights to bankrupt publisher Brash's in-production video game based on 'Saw'. It will be released this fall on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 to coincide with Lionsgate's 'Saw VI.'"
- The Cut Scene (Variety.com)

The story centers on Detective David Tapp who awakens in a decrepit, abandoned asylum. He has been captured by his longtime nemesis, Jigsaw. Obsessed with catching this serial killer, Tapp’s mission has consumed him and ruined his family, resulting in divorce, mental imbalance, and abandonment. Worse yet, this frantic hunt destroyed Tapp’s career while he watched his long-time friend and partner get killed by one of Jigsaw's traps. Now Jigsaw has the upper hand and has captured the detective. Tapp must play a deadly game—the likes of which he has been investigating for years—to escape, and in order to do so he must survive the lethal traps and puzzles that Jigsaw has put in place for him and others. But each victim has a dark connection to Tapp. Will Tapp save them? Can he survive his obsession to find the Jigsaw killer?

One of the big pillars of 'Saw' is the maniacal, twisted serial killer Jigsaw's very unusual traps and you can expect that's something we'll carry forward,' explained Daniels. 'Some traps will even be a direct translation from the movies, particularly the iconic ones fans love. 'Daniels declined to comment on whether actor Tobin Bell will voice his character Jigsaw, but I've confirmed from other sources that he will. No word on whether anyone else from the film is involved, except that the producers at Twisted Pictures have been consulting.

Welcome to the city of Columbia. Floating amongst the clouds, cruising far above sea level, this is a place unlike any you've ever seen. Please enjoy your voyage...
The third game in the popular Bioshock series, BioShock: Infinite breaks away from the underwater setting of the first two games to take players into a floating city held aloft by dirigibles. The game is set in 1912. You play as Booker DeWitt, a disgraced former private detective who's picked up a new case. Your goal is to find Elizabeth, a young woman who's gone missing and return her unharmed. The only problem is that she's being kept on this flying city. Columbia was once a symbol of America's success as a nation, floating around the world as a traveling World's Fair, a marvel of human innovation. But strange things have happened since Columbia's unveiling in 1900, and now the city has disappeared into the clouds. DeWitt knows how to find it, but over the years stories have been told about Columbia having unlawful heavy armament and deranged citizenry. Do not expect this to be a pleasure cruise.
