In New York City, every year they test the beams of light that shine into space and tonight was testing night. It is quite a sight to see. Once they turn them on they stay on for about a week.

On a clear night the lights actually appear to go to infinity. I can look straight up from my home in brooklyn and see them disappear directly over my head. I must admit I wish they'd turn them off as I am reminded of that day without the lights. If anything they are a reminder that we still have work to be done in the world. It's amazing and sad what people are capable of doing when their attitudes are corrupted.

I also remember going into the World Trade Center tower for a client meeting and after getting my security pass (an ID card along with my picture, which I still have, post the 1993 attack) that I felt very uncomfortable in the towers as I knew it was a target. Just before the attacks, I had also met an old coach of mine who was visiting NYC and had meetings in the towers, catching up with him at the globe in the WTC Plaza. He called after the attacks to make sure my family was okay.

I had many friends who worked in the area and saw more than any human should have to witness as they were fleeing the area. The company that I was having a meeting with lost several people and left NYC (Washington Infrastructure Group). My first job I got in NYC (on my own) was for a company in the WTC who lost many people and relocated to New Jersey (Cantor Fitzgerald). A another firm that I had consulted with lost everything in fires, even though their building survived. They moved and I helped coordinate recovery of data since even their fire protected backups were lost. Many people streamed past our house covered in dust. A neighbor of mine lost their only son, the parents both died within 2 years his death.

I was myself in our home during the attacks, with my wife, 7 month old and a friend who felt safer with us instead of being alone. Our neighborhood was covered with dust for a couple of weeks after the attack and we, of course kept our newest little one inside until it rained a couple of times. Even then our time outside was limited.

Nothing else to add except remember everyone who paid a price for something they knew nothing about, and may we all contribute in some way (if only to carry on and make the world a better place) and, with determination and perseverance, get those responsible. May no one mention the names of those responsible and therefore enhance their standing, instead, just get them.

Twin 'ins'.

you could easily sell it as a postcard, if you own or have rights to the images used.

Maybe the double "in"'s could stand for both of the towers

The song that I think will be forever linked to 9-11 is 'Only Time' by Enya. It is a QuickTime Movie file and it's 5MB's but starts immediately. Took me forever to find it because i forgot who wrote it (or should say never knew) and what the title was.

Who can say where the road goes,
Where the day flows, only time;
And who can say if your love grows,
As your heart chose, only time.

Who can say why your heart sighs,
As your love flies, only time;
And who can say why your heart cries
when your love lies, only time;

Who can say when the roads meet,
That love might be, in your heart;
and who can say when the day sleeps,
if the night keeps all your heart;
Night keeps all your heart.....

Who can say if your love grows,
As your heart chose, only time;
And who can say where the road goes,
Where the day flows, only time;

Who knows? Only time,
Who knows? Only time.

Maybe with this music, BlackHawks image and a few other images we can make a real tribute for next year... if you have any favorite images you remember that symbolize, especially of the people who are coping with the tragedy, post them and we'll see what we can come up with...
