Hello, I'm going to build my first pc and would like to know the best one to use. What is the pro and cons of each?

I personally use Intel. Right now, the intel Core i7 line, at least to my knowledge, is faster than almost any AMD processor that you can buy currently for a decent price.

I'm using Intel as well, but I heard AMD ain't bad at all ...
depends on what type of pc you want to build .

maybe some useful oinformation : http://www.buzzle.com/articles/amd-versus-intel-chips-comparison.html

First off, here is a number one big difference:

PRICE! AMD is a few 100 cheaper then the top selling INTEL cpu.

INTEL always have higher GHZ speed but AMD is more stable and doesnt heat up as much as INTEL. I personally think i7 is fast but AMD runs at a steady speed and it takes alot to slow it down.

Hey guys, Thanks for the advise. Blaze thanks for the link. Here is what I found so far ASUS Geforce7025/nForce 630a Barebone Kit - Asus M2N68-AM SE2 MOBO, AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6GHz CPU, 2GB DDR2, Case w/ 450 Watt PSU. Memory max is 4GB though. I think 4GB good for now but later more money. Still shopping.
* Asus M2N68-AM SE2 MATX Motherboard
* AMD Athlon II X4 620 Quad Core Processor (with CPU Fan)
* Ultra 2048MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Memory
* Power Up Black ATX Mid-Tower Case with 450-Watt Power Supply

good topic as I might try to build my own PC as well and because I'm truly a Mac user don't necessarily want to spend a lot on a PC but still want it to be super fast, so keep us posted and even throw some tips this way for someone (mmm, like myself) that hasn't built a computer from scratch before, like... you mean you actually buy an empty case, components and make the connections yourself? ???

I use Intel too, and its really fast but expensive :( I bought my new PC 1 Month ago, before i used an AMD Phenom X4 Black Edition *3,0GHz. This was a good, fast, and cheap CPU.

My new one is a DELL XPS 730, Intel Core i7 Extreme *3,3 GHz LGA1366 Socket-L2 8 MB, Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 *1,7GB, 6GB RAM. I just bought it to play Battlefield BC2 on highest settings :P I am a Battlefield Junky^^

I will say: AMD is really cheaper as Intel, AMD is a bit more solidly than Intel, but Intel CPU´s have more Power, faster as AMD - thats my experience :P

greetings

Hey Green, Found out in my research that all the components are color coded. So it is easy to do. I found some great site to help every one with their project. www.microcenter.com (http://www.microcenter.com)
www.newegg.com/ (http://www.newegg.com/)
www.tigerdirect.com/ (http://www.tigerdirect.com/)

Micro center has the New AMD Phenom™ II X6 1055T and 1090T Processors. Also on sale.
Hope to have it build soon. Had to put it on hold due to being laid off from work, and now I'm back to work and every thing better.
